Gaussian

Gaussian functions are used to describe normal distribution, in image processing things like Gaussian Blur, and in mathematics used to solve heat equations and diffusion equations

Gaussian is a mathematical function of the form $f(x)=\text{exp}(-x^2)$

$g(x)=\frac{1}{\sqrt{2\pi {\sigma }^2}}\text{exp}(-\frac{(x-\mu {)}^2}{2{\sigma }^2}$)

Gaussian describes values that:

• Cluster around an average
• Have fewer cases as you move away from the average
• Are symmetric left-to-right
