Why McHacks?
I would like to participate in tMcHacks because of the various opportunities I will have by attending this hackathon. I will have the opportunity to talk to representatives of different companies by attending McHacks and learning from them. One of the current sponsors for McHacks is Amazon and I would love to talk to some Amazon representatives about AWS architecture and how I can learn more with perhaps an internship in the future as I am currently a high schooler and have some time before I would be eligible to work for a big company like Amazon. Throughout this event I also look forward to meeting new people. I have been to multiple hackathons such as Hack the North 2022 and Hack the Valley 7 but McHacks will give me an opportunity to take that further by letting me expand on my current network. Since McHacks is at McGill University which is located in Montreal I will also have a chance to explore Montreal. I am currently living in Mississauga and recently moved from the state of California. Canada is a beautiful place and by attending McHacks I believe I would be able to broaden my horizons even further.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about many topics related to programming such as backend development, machine learning, and blockchain but aside from that I am also passionate about sports. One sport I am especially passionate about is volleyball. During the summer I started going to the gym and began working out but at my gym they had an indoor basketball court where people would play volleyball on certain days. I wanted to give this a try so I did and I really liked it! I started taking time out to practice my receives as they are the fundamental of the game, practiced spiking as I wanted to start scoring points, practiced serves, and setting. At the end of the day I really love playing setter as that position is the one who gets to make all of the important decisions and the fact that setters have to know how to do everything from receiving the ball to setting the ball to even spiking the ball makes it that much more exciting. Although volleyball is a sport I am still developing in to this day, it is a sport that makes me want to take time out of my day to improve.
