Why do you want to come to TreeHacks 2025?*
TreeHacks is a place of union of new friendships but reunion of many old ones as well. As someone who’s attended ~50 hackathons I have a lot of friends who want to compete at TreeHacks and if accepted to TreeHacks I will have to reunite with the brilliant minds I have met at other hackathons such as LAHacks, CalHacks, Hack the North, and more. I will also have the opportunity to attend fun workshops and consume free food (heard great things about treehacks food!) which is a bonus.
Tell us about a project you’ve enjoyed working on, technical or non-technical.*
I could never solve a Rubik’s cube, the farthest I got was solving one side. My urge to solve a Rubik’s Cube would only be satisfied by disassembling the whole cube just to put it back together with all the colors matching. Frustrated by my inability to solve this puzzle, I had the idea to make a program that could solve any solvable cube for me. I used OpenCV to map colors of the cube to a 3D Mesh and then ran several cube solving algorithms to solve the cube in the most efficient way possible. The process involved me talking to several cubers, learning their strategy and approach to solving cubes, and most ironically of all learning how to solve a cube myself.
What’s something you’re excited to work on in the next 10 years? Dream big!*
I watched a Dystopian movie where in the universe of Doraemon the main characters are transported to a future where humans rely on robots for everything from moving around to eating their food, making them unable to do anything on their own. At the rate technology is improving, human lives rely more on technology with each passing day. However, I am a firm believer that some things in life are meant to be experienced the old school way. Face to face interactions, nature hikes, late night walks, and more. I want to push technology in a direction so it can co-exist with humans, preserving things that are important to our humanity. We shouldn’t lose the skills and simple joys that make life meaningful.
Tell us a fun fact about you :)*
I love working on cars, I currently have a project car MX-5 Miata which I am rebuilding by myself. Current plans are to put a V8 in it, widebody it, and paint it an obnoxious color like purple.
