So I’m making robot arms that gamble on my behalf

For this project I bought a

poker table chips SO101 arms

Today’s focus was to assemble the arm and have it pickup 1 poker chip

After spending hours on assembly and calibration I started a teleoperate session to find out the gripper is shi*

The stock SO-101 gripper is a 1 DOF parallel claw, designed to handle thicker objects

While the claw can grab more than 1 chip fine; becoming an elegant gambler like myself requires chip level precision, which the current design just cannot achieve

So my next steps are to:

  1. Design a new gripper
  2. Teleoperate the arm to pickup 1 chip
  3. Train a Vision Language Action model to reliably pick and place chips

Soon we’ll have an arm good enough to beat
